CRUCIBLE SCULPTURES
The Crucible Sculptures by Michael Schunke are hand-blown glass sculptures that capture an internal process to find meaning. Hollow cores reflect interior and exterior space, veiled with marks left by the artist's hand. In order to focus on the object, one may seek the core of the sculpture, while another studies the marks on the surface. The repetitive marks are measurements that reveal the steady passage of time, which accumulate to present beauty in the mundane.
"Intuition moves me to mark-making as a means to simultaneously invite and interrupt vision." -Michael Schunke
